Make Money With eBay Guide

This article is intended to explain how and why you need to start and use your own eBay store. After reading this page you should have a better understanding about eBay Stores and how to start your own. Please leave us comments, questions, or success stories so that we can improve this guide.

An eBay store runs a bit differently than the traditional auctions you are probably already familiar with. When you open your eBay store, you can list your items for less money than traditional auctions, just know that the items you list will be sold at a fixed price and the items will be listed for at least 30 days.  To have your own eBay store you need to pay at $15.95 per month for the basic store. Listing fees are only $0.02 and gallery pictures can be added for $0.01. This is a great way to list lots of products for rock bottom listing fees.

If you are serious about starting an eBay store, click on “Sellers,” then “Open A Store.” There are 8 basic steps in setting up your store:

  1. Choose a color theme.
  2. Click continue.
  3. Enter your store’s name
  4. Give a description of your store.
  5. Choose a few graphics to help the appearance of your store.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Sign up for the basic store ($15.95 a month).
  8. Click the supplied link to further customize your store.

Your items can be listed in your store for up to 120 days for $0.02. If you want your item to be listed “Good Till Cancelled” it will cost $0.02 per 30 days. Be aware that these items will not appear in the regular eBay listings. To see items in your store, from eBay’s home page click on "eBay stores." Then you can search stores by items. It will list all of the names of stores with those items, with stores with the most items first.

Duplicate auctions

You are allowed to list a maximum of ten identical listings at the same time and having an eBay store allows you to easily manage this.

Gift Services

  • Exposes your item as a gift with an icon. Use of this option also costs a fee and is not suggested for your first auction. Gift wrap – you must provide additional costs and details.
  • Express shipping – you must provide additional costs and details.
  • Ship to gift recipient – you must provide additional costs (if any) and details.
  • Page Counter – places a counter on your auction that shows the number of visitors to your auction.

If you have Auction P.I., the fee finder tool will assist you in determining the fees for your auction item simply by clicking on the various options. As you make your selections you are immediately given a sum of the costs. If you unselect any option the sum will immediately be corrected. Otherwise you will want to keep track of which items charge a fee, and how much, on a piece of paper so that there are no surprises in the charges.
