eBay can not permit the selling of trademark items, by those who do not possess the trademark. For this reason, eBay started the VeRO program. VeRO stands for Verified Rights Owners program. eBay regularly searches the listings for trademark items, to verify that the seller holds the trademark. Listings that are not in compliance of the VeRO program will be stopped immediately.

eBay states "As a seller, you're ultimately responsible for the legality of any item you offer for sale on eBay and the listing describing that item. If your item or listing violates eBay policy or is reported to eBay by an intellectual property rights owner as violating its rights, the listing may be removed from eBay. eBay has a Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program for reporting an intellectual property rights owner violation. Repeated violations can lead to the suspension of your eBay account. So, it's in everyone's best interest for you to create listings that are not legally objectionable. "

eBay also suggests that you make sure your item is authentic. "You should not list replicas, fakes, counterfeits, or other illegal copies on eBay. For example, you should avoid listing an item that bears the brand name or logo of a company that did not manufacture or authorize the product. Do not list homemade or otherwise unauthorized copies of music, movies, television programs, or software. Under the law, it is no excuse to say that you didn't know the item you were selling was a counterfeit. It's your obligation to investigate your source for product and stand behind everything you sell. "

The about me page is the place you tell the world about yourself.  It is a great place to list your interests, hobbies, and what you sell. From your about me page you can have a link to your own web site.  To create your about me page, click on the “Help” link, then type “about me page overview” in the search box. Then scroll down and click on the “create your about me page.”  Remember, once buyers discover your own web site they can buy items directly from you, saving you all of the listing and selling fees eBay charges.

It is also smart to create an About Me page using some of the more popular community web sites like MySpace.com as well as the MSN and AOL versions of their own community sites.

This will allow you to have the potential to attract buyers that are not currently looking at eBay.
