He shows you the next picture. It is a single shot of her, closer and the picture is a lot clearer. Wow, you’re thinking she is great.
Finally, your good buddy, just so happens to have an 8x10 of her in a bathing suit taken at Pismo Beach just last week, and yes, she is in a bikini. And yes, you are picking your jaw up off the floor.
So, what happened? Your buddy told you from the start what she looked like. You saw one picture of her that was a bit blurry and from a distance, but it caught your interest. And the more you saw the more interested you got!
Now, your buddy says to you, “You know, if you’re not interested, Darin said he’d be glad to take her out.”
No way now. Darin is not taking her out. That is not going to happen. In fact, not only are you going to take this gal out you have some great ideas of activities that the four of you can do that night.
You see how that happened? Words were not enough. As you went from suspicious to great enthusiasm, in this example, you also went from disinterest to now competing and fighting for what you wanted.
That is exactly what a great auction presentation does, and pictures are a big part of making that happen.
What You Want Your Pictures to Do for You There are several things you want your picture(s) to show.
- Show the item clearly.
- Show the item from various points of view if this helps display the item better.
- Show close-ups of details if that increases the value of the item.
- Show any flaws, mars, marks, damage or blemishes so there are no misunderstandings about what members are bidding on or what the winner will get.
